We can witness Batu Hiu relicts in a shape of a giant stone of a dark shark swimming especially when the tide is high. This place is being visited quite often by those who wants to be a singer called Sinden (a local singer who sings local songs).or for those who wants to be a famous gamelan wasper. This legends started from a folktale of Sembah Genter Oder, Sembah Galuh Oder and Sembah Galunggung Kuning.

Once upon a time, Sembah Galunggung Kuning was asked to go for fishing in order to provide meals for them and their 60 other soldiers. Before he managed to cook the fish, Sembah Galuh Oder asked what kind of fish caught by Sembah Galunggung Kuning. All of sudden, the hard skin and dark fish was turned into a stone when Sembah Galunggung Kuning answered “It’s a Shark”. Since then the local people called it as Batuhiu Beach (BatuHiu=shark stone).

BatuHiu is a coral hills in the shape of a shark’s snout by a natural cause (the wave from the ocean ‘shapes’ the coral hills into a shark’s snout). There’s one unique tree that its roots look like mangrove tree but the leaves is look more like a palm tree. At the edge of the hill you can have a beautiful view overseeing the Southern Sea and the big wave is exactly beneath us.

To reach Batuhiu from Pangandaran beach, it takes about 15km to the west (follow the direction to Cijulang). There’s a shortcut from Banjar and goes directly to the South following the direction to Parigi. There is a bus from Banjar – Parigi or from Ciamis – Parigi (if I’m not mistaken). The place is very close to Parigi, only about 10 minutes drive.The road to get there is quite smooth and you will find 2 gas stations aroung Parigi.

We can find a lot of food stalls in BatuHiu. A local village is situated not far from the location of a local prawn breeder. The road along the sea is quite a challenge for a 4WD fans, it’s just that I don’t know where the road will take us to ...

For accommodation, we can find many places around Cijulang since its location it’s not so far from Green Canyon or even Pangandaran since it can be reached in only 45 minutes.
